Ornithoctoninae sp Veronica is an undescribed Old World tarantula species within the Ornithoctoninae subfamily. Like other members of this group, it is native to Southeast Asia and is adapted to a fossorial lifestyle, spending much of its time within deep burrows. This species typically displays dark brown to chocolate coloration with subtle tonal variations across the carapace and legs, allowing effective camouflage within forest floor environments.

Behavior and Temperament: Ornithoctoninae sp Veronica is highly alert, defensive, and extremely fast when disturbed. As an Old World tarantula, it does not possess urticating hairs and instead relies on threat postures and biting as its primary defense mechanisms. Due to its rapid movements and medically significant venom, handling is strongly discouraged. This species is best suited for advanced tarantula keepers familiar with Asian fossorial species.

Habitat and Environment Needs: Provide a secure terrestrial enclosure with deep, compact substrate (minimum 15–20 cm for juveniles and deeper for adults) to encourage natural burrowing behavior. A slightly moist substrate mixture of coconut fiber and organic soil works well. Maintain moderate ventilation, stable humidity, and consistent temperatures to replicate tropical forest floor conditions. A water dish should always be available.

Feeding: Ornithoctoninae sp. “Veronica” generally exhibits a strong feeding response and readily accepts live feeder insects such as crickets and roaches.
