Behavior and Temperament: Phrixotrichus scrofa is reported to be fairly docile for a tarantula; some keepers describe it as calm and tolerant of light disturbance.
Habitat and Environment Needs: Native to Chile (Biobío region, coastal & pre-Andean zones) in leaf-litter and under logs in somewhat humid woodland forest margins. In captivity a terrestrial setup with modest substrate depth, a hide or log, moderate humidity and moderate temperatures is typically recommended.
Feeding: As with many tarantulas, live insects (crickets, roaches, mealworms/larvae) are used. Some keepers report that adults are not very hungry and feed less frequently.
Additional Information: This species has some reports of difficulty in captive keeping (especially slings) and potential confusion/mis-labelling in the hobby. Good ventilation, correct humidity/temperature, and cautious husbandry are advised.
