Behavior and Temperament: Nhandu carapoensis is described as generally hardy and relatively fast growing for its size. It is often skittish and may flick urticating hairs, especially when young, but many keepers report it becomes calmer with age.
Habitat and Environment Needs: This species is terrestrial opportunistic burrower and benefits from a horizontal spacious enclosure with about 5-10cm of substrate, a hide, and a water dish. Recommended day temperatures around 24-28 °C and humidity in the 60-75% range. Moist substrate half and a dry side is often suggested.
Feeding: They respond well to live prey crickets, roaches, or similar feeders. Hobbyists report good appetites. Feeding frequency can be once a week for larger individuals; slings may be fed more often.
Additional Information: Though not extremely common in the hobby compared to some other Nhandu species, Nhandu carapoensis is valued for its size adult leg span 12-15 cm and display qualities. It still requires caution due to its speed and use of urticating hairs. Because the genus is large and can flick hairs, it is often not the first choice for an absolute beginner.
