Pamphobeteus sp. Solaris is a sought-after terrestrial tarantula species originating from Colombia. Admired for its stunning red-orange leg coloration, impressive adult size (up to 20–22 cm leg span), and potent feeding response, it’s one of the rarest and most expensive tarantulas in the hobby.
Behavior and Temperament: Generally defensive and fast-moving, but not overly aggressive. Known for an “amazing feeding response” and potential to prey on small vertebrates in the wild. Best handled with caution, ideal for experienced keepers only.
Habitat and Environment Needs: A terrestrial species requiring moderate to high humidity (65–80%) and temperatures between 20–28 °C. Enclosure should include a shallow water dish and substrate with good airflow. No deep burrows needed, but hides should be provided.
Feeding: Juveniles eat every 7–10 days (small crickets/roaches); adults eat every 2–3 weeks—4–5 large crickets or a Dubia roach. Feed according to abdomen size.
Additional Information: One of the few Pamphobeteus species where both males and females display vivid colors. The spines on their rear legs are used defensively. Highly expensive, and difficult to breed.
