Avicularia tucurui originates from the Tucuruí region of Brazil and inhabits humid tropical environments, living among trees and vegetation. It is an attractive pinktoe tarantula with a robust build and distinctive leg hairs.
Behavior and Temperament: Generally regarded as relatively calm, but it can move quickly or jump when startled. Avoid unnecessary handling and provide a secure enclosure.
Habitat and Environment Needs: Provide a tall, well-ventilated arboreal enclosure with cork bark, vertical climbing surfaces and a secure retreat. Supply a shallow water dish and maintain suitable humidity without compromising airflow.
Feeding: Feed appropriately sized live insects such as crickets and roaches. Adjust prey size and feeding frequency to the tarantula’s age and body condition. Remove uneaten prey, especially before moulting.
Additional Information: Avicularia tucurui is valued by keepers for its large size and unusual woolly appearance. Adult size and temperament can vary between individual specimens.
